Laidlaw Leaves for NZ Sevens

The assistant coach of the London Irish team is set to take on the head coach position of New Zealand Sevens. His new role will not be entirely new to him as he was assisting previously to the New Zealand Super Rugby league before. He would be leaving next June for his new assignment. He would be succeeding Sir Gordon Tietjens as the head coach of All Blacks sevens. The latter announced his plan to retire after the Rio Olympics. He had spent about 22 years in this position.

Laidlaw had been part of the Exiles team from 2015. He had been assisting Tom Coventry as the head coach along with Grant Doorey who also acts as an assistant for the position. For Laidlaw, it is indeed a lifetime opportunity. He is excited with the new assignment as it would bring in the challenges ahead that would be new for him. (more…)


RORY BRAND IN BID TO NAIL FIRST TEAM SPOT

Rory Brand, Rugby hotshot who was on loan to Rosslyn Park from London Irish has said that he was utilizing his loan out period at the team, trying to ensure that he got into the first team spot at Rosslyn.


Brand believes that his time at the Rosslyn Park was doing quite a lot for him, thus increasing his chances of making a professional debut for London Irish later this season.

Brand, 18 years old, had joined Irish from Sale Sharks in the summer last year, and was promoted to the senior academy at London Irish. In a bid to ensure that he garners the necessary experience, Brand was immediately sent out on a loan spell to National League Division One side, Rosslyn Park.

The scrum half has so far been impressive, going on to help the London side get up to the seventh position, on the table with six wins from a total of 13 played matches so far.

Win Against Jersey Reds

The game between London Irish and Jersey Reds ended with a score of 42 to 29. Guy Armitage was in the limelight as he played for the Jersey Reds, though he is a former London Irish back player. The game took place at the Madejski stadium and London Irish was able to secure a win which helped them to gain back their position in the Aviva Premiership.

Guy Armitage was debuting for Jersey Reds in this game. He put in the first try in the beginning of the game. Others like Richard Palframan and David Paice scored through mauls. Others like Paice, Tom Fowlie, Ben Ransom and others touched down for the host team during the game period after half time. (more…)
